going to see Moon to-night at the local theater here in keswick ontario, two showings at 9:20 fri/sat and that it ,gone forever ! there has to be a story here!

So sad that it's playing in only one theater in Toronto, ON — that, too, only one show, four days a week. Great movie going to waste … What a shame!

I just saw the film at the Landmark cinema in Waltham, MA in a packed theater and it was excellent! Best science fiction film of the decade! From the trailer, it gives off a 'brain-fuck' vibe, but it isn't at all. Everything is clearly explained and the movie has great flow where every scene stands out on its own. It made ~$231,000 the last week in CA & NY and cost $5 million. I guess they will do a wider release later on or expect to make the money back on DVD. If this film doesn't get nominated for the Academy Awards, I would be very surprised.

Can we start a campaign to contact Sony Pictures Classics to get them to make this wider? Sony_Classics@spe.sony.com

142 theaters? It's only playing at three theaters here in New York City and four in LA as far as I can see.

the fact is, this is a very marketable film! If they cut a really good trailer for the public I think people would flock to it..especially with all the great reviews it has gotten everywhere.

It really has no bearing on how good a film is. Thousands of movie-lovers can rave about ‘Requiem for a Dream.’ That doesn’t mean it’s going to find a wide release, because the studio realizes how divisive the film is. Divisive, at best!

What I will say to Sony is that ‘Moon’ is not only a near flawless film, it is a film that can easily appeal to a mass audience. My way of deciding if the casual moviegoer would enjoy a film is by thinking if my mother (a casual moviegoer) would enjoy it. While she might not go out to watch ‘Moon’ (sci-fi isn’t her cup of tea) I think she would highly enjoy it, and, as such, I am going to promote the hell out of the film so that as many people as I can get will seek out the film. It deserves it.

Not only does it deserve it, but Sony could easily market it to a broader audience and rake in some serious dough.
