By stopping by the website for Paper Street Films today, I discovered that they are the company behind the new Herzog film ‘My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done?’ & Alex Cox’s sequel to his 80’s film ‘Repo Man’.

From Paper Street Films

Synopsis for ‘My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done?’:

Based on a harrowing true story†¦ The film opens as officers arrive at the scene –a typical middle-class neighborhood in San Diego. The suspect has barricaded himself inside a home and appears to have taken hostages. Two friends he had urgently telephoned earlier that morning arrive, but too late. As they and their neighbors try to come to grips with what has happened, they tell their stories to the detective in charge of the crime scene. In a series of flashbacks, the bizarre story of Brad Macallam begins to emerge. After an ill-fated white-water kayaking trip in a distant land, Brad finds readjustment to suburban life increasingly difficult. As his disaffection grows and his relations with those around him become strained, he glimpses a world more vivid and strangely frightening than others can see. The detectives try to penetrate the mystery of his story, but the questions only multiply. Brad’s unfolding personal and family drama leads to an obsession with the ancient play, finally driving him to murder.

‘My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done?’, Directed by Werner Herzog is executive produced by David Lynch and  stars Michael Shannon, Willem Dafoe, Chloe Sevigny, and Brad Dourif.

Most of the major horror film sites are picking this one up.   More than likely based off of the interview conducted by UK’s THE GUARDIAN back in January where the interviewer likens it to a horror film even though it sounds more like a drama with horrific elements.   Either way, with that cast and director – sign me up!

Then below the synopis for the new Herzog film, I found out that this company is behind Alex Cox’s sequel to the 80’s cult classic ‘Repo Man’, effectively titled ‘Repo Chick’.   Read on for that synopsis.

Synopsis for ‘Repo Chick’:

Legendary indie filmmaker Alex Cox brings us a follow-up to his ‘80’s cult classic, Repo Man. In this hilarious parody, infamous heiress Pixxi De La Chasse gets disinherited by her family for her wild and flamboyant antics and must find a job. Possessing a limited skill set to say the least, Pixxi gets a job in the repo industry and soon finds her calling as a badass take-no-prisoners repo man … or rather repo chick.

Now, this sequel has flown under the radar of many because not a lot of information has been released.   But, it’s out there.   You just need to dig, and that is what  I have done for you WAMG readers.   ‘Repo Man’ was one of many 80’s films my father had made me watch.   Initially, I dug it because of the punks and the rockin’ music.   Also, it had Estevez as a no-nonsense dude just trying to get money.   Far from the Emilio that I knew from ‘The Breakfast Club’.   ‘Repo Man‘ is still one of my favorite films.

Now, for ‘Repo Man’ fans you are probably saying: HEY ANDY! ALEX MADE A SEQUEL TO REPO MAN ALREADY IN COMIC BOOK FORMAT!   To this I reply: yes, I know.   To those that don’t know, well…..now you do and you can find it here.   The comic is called Waldo’s Hawaiian Holiday and, while I haven’t read it yet, it seems to explain what happens to Otto after the end of the film ‘Repo Man’.   ‘Repo Chick’ seems to be a brand new movie.   ‘Repo Chick’ stars Ben Guillory, Xander Berkeley, Karen Black, Zahn McClarnon, Robert Beltran with the title role played by Jaclyn Jonet, who is also in Alex Cox’s latest film ‘Searchers 2.0’. Most of those names might not sound familiar, so I linked to their respective IMDB pages as I’m sure you have seen most of them in a movie or two.   I’m excited for ‘Repo Chick’ even though IMDB has  a blank page on it and none of the actors nor Alex Cox’s IMDB pages have it listed.

Now, where did I park that Malibu?

I is movie geek. Hear me rawr. Ok, time for the professional speak. I have always been a movie geek. For serious. My dad fed me on a healthy diet of Blade Runner & Clockwork Orange. My mother introduced me to horror & psychological thrillers like Rosemary's Baby & Robert Wise's The Haunting. These mere morsels of celluoid only whet my appetite. During my teenage years, you could find me searching for the next Full Moon pictures joint on the old VHS shelves. I dug through the archives of backwoods slashers of the 80's and ate spaghetti with the Italian maestros by the flavors of Bava, Argento & Fulci. Now, I have reached the lower realms of depravity by thinking that Cannibal Holocaust is required viewing & running a weekly podcast, DESTROY THE BRAIN!, covering horror & genre film. Hmmm, I'm going to stop while I'm ahead. Favorite Films: Halloween (1978), La Haine, Vertigo, Rosemary's Baby, Fight Club, Nightmare on Elm Street, Kidnapped (Rabid Dogs), The Blair Witch Project..and the list just keeps growing.
