Prequel, I'm in.
Dante writes and directs, I'm in.
Remake or anything else... stop shitting all over everything sacred from my childhood.

I agree. That sounds like a totally awesome idea for another Gremlins movie. I do still really like the first movie, though. It didn't feel cheesy or anything to me, but I completely get how the second one comes off that way.

It would be the only way to revive the franchise without fluffing the content or rehashing anything from the previous two. I wonder if they'll keep the original tone of the first film or completely revamp the franchise and omit any of the parody elements. I would love to see them make references very obscurely to other films. I think in the right hands the third installment could revive the franchise.

That is actually a good idea for a new Gremlins movie. I've always wanted to know about the origin of the species...pun intended.

Joe Dante is a hack who is a textbook example of a director on a power trip. The study entrusted him with the Gremlins franchise and he decided to ruin it by making it into one big satire. I'm glad he's not taking part in the third one (if there is one). I heard through the grapevine that the third installment would most likely be a prequel that takes place in China before the first Gremlins film. The origins of the mogwai and Gizmo. Could take the franchise in an entirely new direction.
