Discuss: Statham Vs. Schwarzenegger
With the recent release of Transporter 3 on DVD, Crank: High Voltage opening April 17th and a slew of action films set for 2010/2011 releases, it seems like Jason Statham is really making a name for himself as the go to action superstar. There aren’t many big action stars these days and no matter how much John Cena tries to be one, it’s just not happening. This got me thinking about the biggest action star I knew growing up so I decided to open up a discussion.

Yes and no. Statham is definitely the prominent action star of these past few years because he is completely badass, but comparing action stars from different decades is like trying to compare leading men from different decades. No one said or could make the argument that Steve McQueen or Paul Newman or Robert Redford was the new Clark Gable or Gene Kelly or Humphrey Bogart.
Statham should just enjoy the fact that the badass flicks he makes are golden and not worry about such comparisons; namely because his characters are more intelligent and way more intelligible than Arnies.
No i dont think so. Well at least not yet.
He is still awesome, but i think he has a bit to go.

Statham is surely catching up.
regardless of his role choices lately, Jason is a much better actor than Arnold. He has critical roles in Snatch and Lock,Stock were he wasn’t flexing his muscles and doing incredible stunts.
Van Damme is awesome, but even more so since ‘JCVD’. Schwarzenegger was OK, even for his time. His movies were always better than he was, plus he’s pretty much out of show biz now. Stevev Seagal’s best work was between 1988-1994. Since then, the quality has been declining. But, someone is watching them because he’s making more movie than ever. Statham deserves his place amongst the pantheon of action stars.

It’s like comparing apples to oranges. Yes, some of Arnold’s films were entertaining (I love “Predator”), but the man could not ACT to save his life. Jason more than held his own in “The Bank Job”, “Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels” and “Snatch”. I find “Death Race” to be one of the best action films EVER. Plus Jason is wonderful for us girls to look at, so any movie with him in it is more than bearable!!
I love Statham’s work, and he’s easily _the_ action hero of this decade, but he’s nowhere near Ah-nold’s class yet simply because he hasn’t released anything epic yet. When he’s got a Terminator (1 or 2) or a Predator in his bag, I’ll be more than happy to say “congrats” but not yet.
And he needs to work on his one liners ;-)
Jason the best action superstar i have ever seen, i love him since the transporter movie, his body is so cool, he’s not have big muscle and he’s not skinny either, Jason statham is the best
