‘Watchmen’ does 4.6 million from Midnight Screenings

Last night ‘Watchmen’ opened up to midnight screenings in 1,595 theaters, and pulled 4.6 million bucks doing it which is double what ’300′ did in its midnight run. Is this good news for the movie? I dont know, but its nice to see it did more business than ’300′ as I think this is a much higher quality film. Do you think its on its way to a $70+ million weekend? I think so, I think it will be the biggest release for march..ever. Chime in below.

Thanks to Variety for the info..

  1. It’s definitely going to have the largest March opening in history. It will also have the largest Spring opening ever, but I don’t think it will be the largest R-rated opening ever. It won’t make more than ‘The Passion’ or ‘Matrix: Reloaded’ in its opening weekend.

I’m still holding steady at $75 mil.

  2. Apparently it made the bulk of its profit from the midnight screenings.
