‘Star Trek’ breaks record for Trailer Downloads

So, who’s a Trekkie? Yeah, me either… but, I do enjoy the movies. (OK, so I enjoyed ‘Star Trek: Voyager’ and ‘Next Gen’) My point is that the news of J.J. Abrams’ new ‘Star Trek’ movie breaking the record for the most downloads online in a 24-hour period shows that there is a HUGE mass of people, Trekkie and otherwise, that are really looking forward to this movie.

In its first 24 hours, the Star Trek trailer had 1.8 million downloads from Apple.com – in its first five days, the trailer was downloaded over 5 million times.

These numbers include downloads to Mac, PC, iPhone and iPods with video. — ScreenRant

Now, I’m not suggesting it will out-perform ‘The Dark Knight’ but, I think it could definitely (no, will be) a much bigger financial success than ‘Watchmen’. Let’s hear some guesstimates… how BIG will this ‘Star Trek’ be? On opening day? Opening weekend? Overall?

My bid is for… Opening day = $12 million, Opening weekend = $65 million

  1. I’m scared to say… don’t want to offend any Trekkies. I think it will an amazing opening and a strong run.
