Data is in the prequel and saves Spock and Nero's life in the current on out. From what I understand, there is another STNG character that will be making an upcoming appearance. I do not know if they explain how Data is alive since he died at the end of Nemesis, although we never saw his dead body float across the screen, so no telling.
