‘Let The Right One In’ Remake decides original title is too long and is renamed to ‘Let Me In’

Most fans of the original Swedish film ‘Let the Right One In’ knew that it was going to be remade. According to Bloody-Disgusting.com, the remake has been renamed to ‘Let Me In’ and has also learned, via Production Weekly, that the re-do will start shooting in May of this year.
Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) has helmed the script and will behind the director’s chair as well. Distribution will be handled by Overture Films and Hammer Films for a tenative release on January 15, 2010.
Count the renaming news as Misstep Number 1 for me.

Wow now we are remaking them before they hit DVD! What the hell was wrong witht the original???? Why not take a crack at Salem’s Lot leave the good ones alone. I understand if we stop remaking movies the industry will stop but can we be a little more selective?
This is stupid! ‘Let the Right One In’ is “too long” but, hey… ‘The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford’ is just fine? (and it is, by the way) What the Hell is wrong with these people?
OH…MY…GOD!!! Sometimes I just wanna slap American studio heads upside the face. This is the stupidest news I’ve heard in a long long while.
seriously..this is ridiculous. Why remake a movie when it is already freaking awesome? Why not go and remake ‘The Spirit’, it hasnt hit DVD yet and it sucked! This is a (in Charles Barkley Voice) “turrible” idea.
Ram Man,
I’m extremely offended that Quarantine has hit the DVD shelves, yet the United States still hasn’t been treated to a DVD of the superior original [REC]. As for the Salem’s Lot comment, it was done with Rob Lowe not too long ago. :)
I’m convinced that if you are a filmmaker outside of North America that makes a splash on the scene through festival showings, you are opening up yourself to having your original remade or being imported to direct the newest Studio picture. The only director that has made a excellent remake, as of late, is ‘The Hills Have Eyes’. Then again, I never thought the original was anything special.
ok, this is annoying. This is going to end bad, real bad. I didn’t even like Cloverfield. Its more like it has to be as short as “Saw” or “Hostel” or “Cloverfield” or “Quarantine” or “Halloween” to be a successful horror movie.
I guess its the 5 word rule. No movies with 5 words can make money. My Big Fat Greek Wedding at #54 is the highest grossing movie that isn’t notoriously shortened AKA Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Harry Potter, etc.. then its not till Three Men and a Baby at 139 do we have another mandatory 5 word title.then Catch Me If You Can at 144 and that’s it in the Top 200 grossing movies of all time.
In the 200-400 land, there are 10 more with Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Honey I Shrunk the Kids, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, Fun With Dick and Jane, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, In The Line of Fire, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, and Journey to the Center of the Earth round the essential 5 word titles in the 200-400 ranked range. That is it though. So only 13 movies in the history of cinema have made $100 million with 5 word titles that were essential, which means you can’t drop a “the” or an “an” or something like that to make it work on the marquee.
Hollywood only cares about the money, screw artistic integrity.
seriously? you know what though, i’m so done complaining about this crap. i’m happy with the fact that i saw the original and told all my friends to see it. i also like to think that there are people out there who upon finding out its a remake, will seek the original. everyone else, well, what can you say?
Holy Tivo! I missed a Rob Lowe movie! (hahahahahaha) I can see him as a vampire hunter after his outstanding performance on the ice in ‘Youngblood’. I will have to hit USA or Lifetime to try to catch it on a rerun. I have one for Hollywood…. This film has been out in theaters for 2 long weeks and is in need of a redo…FIRED UP! Yes fired up or as people leaving the theater refffer to it as “the big FU”. Lets remake that one, or perhaps we don’t wait at all and star remakes prior to the release date…Who’s got the new Watchmen script??????
I think the remake will suck but since we can’t stop it I hope atleast that the Eli will be 100% female and that Oskar will become a Vamp that will make me happy what about the rest of you?
I mean wouldn’t it be nice if more of the movie was explained and the ending a little more closed? well if the remake added these things then I personally think that this movie has a chance I jsut can’t wait to see how bad or good it will be. and in any case it really doesn’t take away from how GREAT the ORIGINAL one is.
"I mean wouldn't it be nice if more of the movie was explained and the ending a little more closed?"
No. It would not.
Its perfect how it is.
yea your right just talking crap.
