What are they doing to Deadpool in ‘Wolverine’?

Our homies at Film School Rejects found the above photo of the Deadpool action figure from ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ and we are wondering what the heck is going on! That isn’t Deadpool!

In all of the comic books Deadpool resembles a Ninja, wearing full body suit due to being disfigured by the regenerative “healing factor”   that was given to him by Weapon X. As you can see from the above photo he sports swords and guns but not taped blades on his hands like you can see from the action figure.

I really hope that they didn’t just completely screw up the Deadpool character, as his is one of my favorites from ‘X-Men’. This is very disheartening if the action figure is any type of representation of the movie version.

  1. Dude, it’s Ryan Reynolds. You don’t think they’re gonna hire a face like Ryan Reynolds and hide it behind a ninja mask, do you?

  2. I can only hope that this may be an actual Deadpool version of Deadpool. Like when he was fighting in the Deadpool and that’s how he got his name pre Mutant X. Lets just hope that’s what they’re doing with it.

  3. I agree the movie version of Deadpool is going to be sans-mask alot. There is a version 2 of the Deadpool action figure from the movie in full cotumes holding the swords just like the comic version. Wave 1 of the figure set has 2x deadpool, Sabertooth, Gambit, Maverick, Weapon X and 5 different Wolverines.

  4. Apprantly that chracter in the movie is supposed to be weapon XI, played by Scott Adkins. Maybe the becomes Deadpool like gavin says, by name only and hopefully reynolds will become the real deadpool. I’ve read rumours/spoilers that reynolds is supposed to have a scarred image some point in the movie which they alter digitally.

  5. i saw the prerelease and deadpool is decapitated by wolverine

  6. I almost cried in cinema, when I saw him: His charackter totally torn apart, ripped into pieces… they shut him up, the merc with a mouth for christs sake! Oo Deadpool as a mere tool for Stryker, ridiculous.

  7. if you bothered to stay and watch through the credits, they show something for Deadpool at the very end. I think they did a good job on him and can’t wait to see the Deadpool origins movie.

  8. Yeah, they did show something after the credits for what “they” want to call Deadpool, but it was lame and I simply do not support a Deadpool spin-off movie if they are going to continue the character as created in ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’. Fact is, the studio is already considering reverting the character back to a form closer to his roots for the spin-ff. Comic/Movie Geeks unite… the studio may actually be listening to us, at least a little bit?

  9. @Greg, not all movie theaters had that after the credits. I always stay and ‘watch’ the credits and there was nothing shown when I went to see the movie. I only saw that part after I searched for it on youtube.
@Travis, well when they first activated Deadpool, the scientist said that the bonding wasn’t fully complete so it’s possible that his laser eyes and adamantium-arm-sword-things will be rejected. That way, he’s only left with his healing and teleportation which is rather close to what he had in the comics.
