The Rock confirms some info on ‘Jonny Quest’ Movie
Moviehole.net had a chance to sit down with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson while at a press junket for his new film, ‘Race to Witch Mountain’. During the discussions, Johnson unveiled some interesting news about the in-development ‘Jonny Quest’ film to be directed by ‘Witch Mountain’ director, Andy Fickman.
Johnson confirmed that he would be playing Race Bannon, the bodyguard/pilot/all-around badass who protects Jonny.
‘’ I love the script, I love working with Andy…’’, Johnson told Moviehole. “I don’t know if you’ve read the latest [draft] but it’s awesome and it’s badass and I haven’t read, this is what I told everyone over at Warner Bros., and I love the studio too by the way, you know, I had my experience with them with Get Smart and they were great, I hadn’t read an action script like that in a LONG time. And that action was unbelievable. That will happen.’’
Johnson also said the rumors about Zac Efron playing the title role might be on the money. Not exactly a solid piece of information, but a little more than just an unfounded rumor.

I was just sitting in my office not two months ago saying to myself, when are they going to do Johnny Quest. Being a writer myself, I began to pen what I thought would be a cool concept to contemporize to the current generation. And of course, my pic was also Dwayne Johnson as Race Bannon. I couldn’t think of any other guy to do it, albeit the white hair. He certainly has the bod. In fact Race was a hottie too, as cartoon men go. Anyway, my concept started with Johnny as a pre-teen where we left him (wow was that like 20 something years ago?), and well he needs to chill and do what other 12 year olds do for a little while, like go to school, stay out of trouble, discover girls. So in my story, his dad puts him in boarding school and Haji goes to stay with a relative or something for about five years. In between holiday and birthday visits, Johnny is homesick, starts acting like your average trouble maker and gets himself tossed from boarding school. Meanwhile some dudes seeking vengeance on his dad come looking for him just after Race picks him up to bring him home. And so the action continues, as they all come together for another adventure. Of course all the testosterone in the air can cause a lot of fights and bad attitudes, it’s what teenage boys love, that and a hot girl. So who gets the girl, Race or the new and improved hottie Johnny Quest? I really hope to see something like this on screen. Please don’t cornball it like Speed Racer and lord what they did to Starsky & Hutch was tragic. Yeah I know it was different but it sucked just the same. Bad enoug for Starsky aka PMG to end up doing insurance commercials.
