Fantasy Cast… Who should play Catwoman and Penguin in next ‘Batman’?
It is inevitable. ‘Batman 3′, or whatever it will be called, is going to happen. There is as much certainty of this as there is that that ‘Spider-Man’ musical won’t last more than one season on Broadway. Of course, the big question about ‘Batman 3′ (other than the title and whether or not Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale will return) is who the villains in the film will be.
The popular choices are Catwoman and Penguin.
So, who are your number one choices? Angeline Jolie’s name was bandied about there for awhile in regards to Catwoman, but those talks have subsided in recent weeks. I’ve gotta say it’s a role that just about any hot chick can play. The costume really does most of the work. If I were casting it, though, I’d probably have to give it to Megan Fox. The girl is right at the cusp of breaking out big, and she has that kind of unrefined Angelina Jolie look to her.
Now, onto the Penguin. There are really only two names out there that stand out, and those are Paul Giamatti and Philip Seymour Hoffman. Both are incredible actors who I think would do an excellent job in the role, especially if they made Oswald Cobblepot more of a sophisticate and not the monster the Penguin ended up being in ‘Batman Returns’. Early rumors were that the character would be a weapons dealer, and that seems like a pretty nice fit.
Who are your ultimate choices for these roles? Do you think the next ‘Batman’ should completely subside these two characters and go with someone more sinister? Will most of this be a moot point if Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale get replaced with Brett Ratner and Shia Labeouf? Just a thought. Shoot us your thoughts on this below!

The only character that seems plausible to be scripted into a “realistic” Batman movie would be Penquin. An angry curropt buisness man with a serious case of “little man syndrome”. But only devito comes to mind and we can’t have a repeat. But for catwomen? Angie seems like a good choice but her body isn’t fit for a perfect fit leather suit IMO. Plus I always pictured her blond. Halle Berry was a joke other then her bodacious body. Let’s for the fun of it say Olivia Wilde on Halle’s bod unless the world wants an extremely slender cat. Which, hey. That just might work. It’s easier to maneuver Gotham when you don’t have big ok bits getting in your way.
I wouldn’t care to much for Angelina as Catwoman, Marissa Tomei however that’s a different story. As for the Penguin Paul Giamatti would probably be the best pick but so would Bob Hoskins. And another villain I would really like to see is The Riddler portrayed by Hugo Weaving. And if Brett Ratner and/or Shia Lebeouf I will refuse to bare witness another beloved franchise stupified to their level.
As for Penguin, I thought Danny Devito did an awesome job, but as Tama said, I don’t want to see a repeat performance. The rumors about Philip Seymour Hoffman were interesting, but I too really like the idea of Paul Giamatti. After seeing ‘Shoot Em Up’ I realized he has a great sense of dark comedy and can be sadistic if its called for. In an interview (not with us, unfortunately) he talked about how those are the kind of roles he loves to do, where he can really let loose.
Catwoman is a different story. Absolutely, no way do I want Angelina Jolie, or any other major Hollywood starlet bombshell whatever playing that role. Yes, Halle Berry was terrible for the role, but it was generally just a terrible movie anyway. Catwoman should NOT have special powers! With that said, it doesn’t mean she can’t be kick ass. This is probably going to come out of left field, but if Catwoman is in the third Batman movie, and is directed by Christopher Nolan, I would love to see someone like Michelle Yeoh (although, she may be getting too old for the role) or even a younger (not too young) talented Asian actress with mad martial arts skills. Maybe Ziyi Zhang, although she’s not a “trained” martial artist, she did fine in Crouching Tiger. I don’t know, I think it would be cool to see the role changed up a bit. I just don’t want to see the role wasted with a major name just because they’re very attractive, etc.
Paul Giamayyi would be excellent blowing up shit with an umbrella in Gotham. Catwoman, needs to be a knockout with a perfect body. Marissa Tomei is beautiful but past her prime. Angelina Jolie is sadistic enough for the role but again too old. I know she is waist deep in robots but what about Megan Fox? I only have one choice for the role of The Riddler….the great Andy Serkis. He would be perfect and is able to project a “Frank Gorshin” version of Edward Nigma and would be a hit in the role!
Serkis would actually be a good choice for Riddler. Good one, Ram. Didn’t think of that.
Riddler = Casey Affleck in my book. I think he has the acting chops and the looks to pull it off. I also think Ben Foster could be a great selection.
I think Kate Beckinsale would be an interesting screen test to see for Catwoman. And, because of the mental imprint Michelle Pfeiffer has had in my head since she played it oh so long ago, I could see Jaime Pressly playing it if she could change her voice around some and shed her My Name Is Earl stigma.
I would choose Hoffman for Penguin, but personally I don’t want to see penguin. I guess I’d prefer to see The Mad Hatter or some other cool villian take a small role in the movie and have maybe two face brought back for a bit or the Scarecrow.
I want a movie that deals with at least one of the awesome female villians in the Batman comic world.
I don’t want Angelina Jolie not because she isn’t amazing, but it’s too obvious a role for her. I would like to see an interesting choice for the role, the way Heath Ledger surprised me. A few names come to mind:

3) Eliza Dushku
4) Jennifer Connelly (if she’d gain a bit of weight back)
How about Harleyquinn? Eden Riegel or Kristen Bell would be perfect actress choices! I think it would be interesting to see a cameo of her character trying to redeem the Joker’s name outside of Arkham.
If not either of those women, then Talia should be there, played by an exotic actress.

or they should just spend all of the movie's budget inventing a machine that brought Michelle Pfeiffer back from the past because no one can play the role like her.
