‘V’ Remake Pilot Gets the Green Light

Okay, so it’s not exactly movie related news, but it’s definitely news hardcore geeks around the world have been waiting to hear. Ă‚  ABC has officially given a greenlight to the production of its reworking of “V”, the 1980s mini-series about invading alien lizards who wear human skin as disguises.

Scott Peters, the co-creator of USA’s sci-fi series “The 4400″, is on writing duty for the new series’ pilot. Ă‚  Hardcore fans of the series will be a little perterbed to hear that the original series’ writer/producer Kenneth Johnson will not be back in any form.

The new series will follow a Homeland Security agent with an aimless son. Ă‚  When the aliens land, the son gloms onto them, causing tension within the family. Ă‚  Like the original series, the aliens say they have come to earth to help, but lizad aliens wearing human skin can’t be trusted, right?

What do you think? Ă‚  Are you excited to see a new version of “V” hit TV sets? Ă‚  In this day and age of long-form television writing with shows like “Lost” will a show about an alien invasion be able to sustain a long series? Ă‚  Does anyone else hope and pray Marc Singer gets at least a cameo? Ă‚  Let us know by commenting below!
