Rodriguez doing the ‘Predator’ reboot… Really?

This is one of those news bits that makes me go… hmm? According to a reliable source known by BloodyDisgusting.com, the reboot of the ‘Predator’ franchise is allegedly being produced by Robert Rodriguez and Troublemaker Studios. The project is being developed by 20th Century Fox and the word is that the pitch being tossed around the biz calls for a group of commandos who find themselves brawling it out with “a mysterious race of vicious monsters.” So, does this mean we’ll be seeing the original ‘Predator’ storyline being revamped, essentially with more Predators and a bigger budget? No word on whether or not Rodriguez would direct, but I wonder whether anything will come of this. Keep in mind, Rodriguez’s laundry list of projects (including Sin City 2, Red Sonja and Barbarella) is getting longer and we’re not seeing much in the way of finished products. Will it happen? If so, will it be worth it?

  1. If there ever was a movie that didn’t need a re-boot, it is Predator. You can’t top Arnie and Jesse “The Body” in that movie; that movie is just too golden.
