‘Pushing Daisies’ may resurrect itself on the big screen?

For those of you who have watched and enjoyed the TV show called ‘Pushing Daisies’ you realize that it’s a somewhat sad realization the the show will not continue. It was a quirky and colorful shows with in interesting story. With the series’ end upon us, and the final episodes chance of not even being aired, the question that is likely bothering fans is whether or not the story will have it’s loose ends tied up.

For those of you not familiar with the show, here’s part of the show’s plot synopsis from ABC’s website:

From Bryan Fuller (Heroes, Wonderfalls) and Barry Sonnenfeld (Men in Black) comes a critically acclaimed series with an unprecedented blend of romance, fantasy and mystery, Pushing Daisies, a forensic fairytale about Ned, a young man with a very special gift.

As a young boy Ned discovers that he can return the dead briefly to life with just one touch. But his random gift isn’t without deadly consequences & as he soon finds out. He discovers the rules of his gift early: First touch – alive; second touch – dead again, forever; Keep something alive for more than a minute and something else has to die in its place.

Grown up Ned (Lee Pace) puts his talent to good use by touching dead fruit and making it ripe with everlasting flavor. He opens a pie shop. But his life as a pie maker gets more complicated when private investigator Emerson Cod (Chi McBride) discovers Ned’s secret. Emerson convinces the cash-strapped Ned to help him solve murder cases (and collect a hefty reward fee) by raising the dead and getting them to name their killers.

Keep your hopes up fans, because apparently the show’s creator Bryan Fuller has an idea for a movie that would wrap the series up nicely. So, while we wait to see if this ever happens, you can find Bryan Fuller returning to work on ‘Heroes’ (hopefully helping pull it out of the gutter) where he has also written in a part for ‘Pushing Daisies’ star Swoozie Kurtz.

I hope the movie really does materialize… it seems ABC is finally airing the final three eps over the next three Saturday nights.. with the garbage they repeat and use as filler – I would rather have seen them do a marathon – say three eps from day one to the last one aired, every Saturday night – or whatever night needs filler(as far as I’m concerned, everything but a few shows on ABC in prime time could use a decent show marathon).. and then – have it end with the final three episodes shown on one night.. MAYBE they might get a new audience to see what they missed.

In any case, the movie idea is great – yes, I would like to see a theatrical release, and that, I would go to – but it also might boost the sales of the first and second seasons on DVD, to be capped by purchasing the DVD of the movie.

I imagine in the end, they will somehow get more money out of this genius show than they get off of all the junk they seem to have created, aired and cancelled since – Samantha Who? for one(Christina Applegate deserves better).. and I am looking into my crystal ball, I don’t see Better off Ted making it past season 2, if it is renewed..

Are there REALLY still Neilsen families controlling our ratings? I hope not, but if there are, I would guess that they are not being chosen scientifically.. or According to Jim could NOT still be on!

  2. my girlfriend really loves the tv series Samantha Who, she finds it very amusing;~’
