This is me waving my white flag before the Panda can jump up and sqwak about The Dark Knight getting left out. I don’t feel bad because The Reader took it’s nomination. 4 of the five films nominated were in my top 5 films this year. Clint being left out was a suprise…congrats for Richard Jenkins in the Visitor! Looks like Bashir is a runaway with foriegn film. I will be happy with Boyle or Fincher as director….Penn or Pitt or Rourke as actor…Winslett for Actress and Henson or Tomei as supporting.
We have a month to wait and see.

I think Fincher or Boyle should win for best Director. Dark Knight WILL NOT get a nom for best picture, as well it should be because there were way better movies this year.

I’ll be upset if Boyle or Van Sant don’t win director and if Penn or Rourke don’t win actor. Those are my two biggest categories this year to see who will win because I think those two from each category are so high above the rest I am anxious to see who the “Academy” thought was better.

I know Langella did great in Frost/Nixon and Fincher was superb with directing CCBB, but the other other two in each category I think even drastically topped both of them.

I think the reason The film is called “The Dark Knight” is because it is based on Frank miller’s vision of Batman. It not only should it will recieve the nomination for best picture! No it won’t win but a film that the entire world watched numerous times deserves the credit. Panda you live out there on the left coast with all the cab drivers that vote on the Globes…maybe hang with them they hate The Dark Knight as much as you do! hahahaha
Thursday am with the I told you so when the nominations are announced.

Other than Heath Ledger and maybe some tech nominations, Batman, yes I said Batman, (because lets face it, the only reason they called it the Dark Knight was to appease the comic book/superhero geeks and to fool the rest of the sheep into thinking it was something more than a superhero movie)should not get a best picture nomination. It doesn’t quite live up to that. I realize that the Oscar telecast needs to get better ratings and the easiest way to do that is to heap a ton of nominations on the highest grossing movie so people will watch. And thats fine. I take solace in the fact that it will never win, so nominate til your little hearts content.
