Director Guild Nominations

The Directors Guild of America announced the five nominees for the DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film for 2008.

David Fincher, “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”
Christopher Nolan, “The Dark Knight”
Ron Howard, “Frost/Nixon”
Gus Van Sant, “Milk”
Danny Boyle, “Slumdog Millionaire”

* Well, this pretty much clinches it for the top 5. Will Ron Howard receive the snub again from the Oscars as he did in 1995 when he was glaringly overlooked for ‘Apollo 13′? Howard won the DGA, while the Academy went with Mel Gibson for ‘Braveheart’. The only two movies to receive universal love from ALL the guilds (SAG, PGA, ASC, WGA and DGA) are ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ and ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’. The 61st Annual DGA Awards will be on January 31, 2009.

FYI: The DGA is honoring film critic Roger Ebert with their Honorary Life Member Award.
