Dakota Fanning in ‘New Moon’?
E! online is reporting that Dakota Fanning is in talks to co-star in ‘New Moon’. Â Evidently, she is being handed the part of Jane.
“There were no auditions,†a source reveals. “They just offered it to her outright, and now they’re in negotiations. They’ve been going back and forth.â€
In the novels, Jane is a member of Italy’s Volturi, the most deadly group of vampires known to man. Â Somehow, Fanning’s name just doesn’t cry out to me when thinking about the most deadly vampire in the world.
It is also reported that an online petition was set up to cast Fanning in the part, as fans of the novels feel she would be perfect for the role.

I think Dakota is absolutely and utterly perfect for this role. I think being very young and inocent looking while portraying an evil vampire is a cool contrast.
well, jane IS supposed to be young and innocent looking, i guess she would be okay
Dakota in new moon? no shes been in to many movies! they should find someone no one has heard of or have but that person has only been in like one movie but i guess she will be good as a EVIL vampire i guess but i dont think that will be good because ive read the book and its a wrong role 4 her : /

When i think of Jane, I never went "Oh my gosh, Dakota Fanning would be perfect for that role?" but, I do think that she could be brilliant in that part. Dakota is well known but i feel not so much that it would have a negative affect on the film. She is a very talented actress and i would love to see her step into the role of someone truly vicious. Don't picture her as a sweet little girl, like she normally portrays, but with no expression and piercing eyes along with the acting talent i know she possesses…she will make one terrific Jane!!! She has the build of a vampire and with a little make up and the red eyes…i'd be running the other way, haha. I really hope she gets the part.
it is hard for me to imagine dakota being a mean vampire so i think it should definitly be someone else
I think Fanning is really pretty and could pass as a vampire with some makeup, but not the angelic beauty described in the book. I think she should do a less important part, perhaps. But i'm hoping they found some other actor for the part, who's both younger and more "evil" looking. Fanning is just TOO angelic. I think she would just look wrong with white skin and red eyes.

Has anyone seen her in /Push/? She was really good. Sure, she has cute-goody-two shoes looks, but I think she can play Jane's part really well. She can be forceful if she has to. I think she will have a blast playing Jane's role.
of course, dakota does well in every movie she does…i dont doubt she will do great. yeah and kait is right if u have read the books, jane seems so noon threatening thts wat makes her scary when she smiles at you…dakota has the perfect face and attitude to pull her off….uhhh wen i think of jane i dont necessarily see blond tho..i wonder if they'll change her hair color or something>???
with a little make-up Dakota will be perfect as a vampire….face it people, with no make-up, nobody would look like a vampire…:)

Ok, I agree straight up with Dee, she is definitely fitting the part, In the BOOK hello which is where the movie is COMING from jane is suppose to look too innocent and they described her as innocent though I do agree that they have been using actors and actresses that are new Im excited 2 see how she plays out
I think she will be perfect. Jane is supposed to look sweet and innocent…(read the book people). Jane will be perfect. The blonde may not work out but hey you never know. A good actor or actress can pull anything off and I think Jane is a very good actress so you people just need to realize what the book says or implies reading between the lines and forget about how common Dakota is. She will be perfect.

shes a good actress, but i mean. its like having brad pitt play as edward…it brings too much to the movie, it was good when you know the actors, but they werent over the top.
its like you have movie aftertaste with dakota, if that makes sense.

Dakota is an extremely talented actress & she has accomplished so much in her very young career. This would be an awesome role for her to get away from the old "type casting" curse of child actresses.

Dakota is an amazing actress . She' ll definitely be able to pull it off . Wow seeing her as Jane is gona be really cool.
ummm not if u look at her as a normal person but when u see her in the trailers she looks evil i think she is just right for the part

I have seen the preview for New Moon and Dakota Fanning was the best choice they could have made for Jane. Dakota is an amazing actress so it couldn't have been better. Kristen Stewert and Robert Pattinson are the total opposite however. i don't get how Rob could be so awesome in HP and the Goblet of Fire and then ruin Twilight…..
KaGyn. Do you even know what Native American is? LEIGH is native american. Meaning dark skin and hair. Not pale and blonde. She's a beautiful Jane. She's the only reason I'm bothing to see the rest of the movies after seening RobPat and KStweart totally killed the first one with their horrible acting. Besides the fact the parts are very Mary Sue, I don't understand how they could actually be somewhat good in other movies and suck in this.
Also note to others that think she's been in too many movies.
ALL OF THEM HAVE BEEN IN MOVIES, JUST SMALL PARTS. For crying out loud RPat was freaking in Harry Potter, the most seen and most popular movies out in our time. Even if it was one movie, it was a big part. The first thought when people saw him before Twilight was 'Cedric!'. So shove it. Dakota is one of the few of them that can act and has class.
IF ANYONE DOSN"T WANT TO SEE DAKOTA AS JANE DONT WATCH THE MOVIE. IT IS AS SIMPLE A SOLUTION AS THAT.

i think yes i have already red the book and "Jane" is a vampire who wants to Edward to have pain!!!And also "Jane" is very beautiful!
i would rather see some one new as Jane and I have read all the books but I just like the newer characters for the movies
i dont think that she will do a good job and that they should find someone else in the movie to play jane she's too common everyone knows her already

you all say that she's been in too many movies, but what about kristin? she's been in a lot of movies too.. and i think dakota looked amazing in the trailers so i think she will do a great job.
No way should Dakota be in it! She has been in like 88999 movies.Also i think there is a more vicious person to be Jane.
I kinda think that Anna Sophia Robb would've made a great Jane too. But seeing Dakota in the New Moon trailers, I think she'll make a great jane too :)
I don't know really… she is great as an young actress and I could tell that one day she'll be one of Hollywood's top stars… but while reading Meyers New Moon I kind of thought Jane would be more frightening so she somehow doesn't fit, also there was this sentence in the book that says how Janes and Aros powers grow stronger as they are older – so I think this role is for someone who's atleast 20 years old, don't you think? …but, if you watch a movie and see a kid with that kind of powers it makes better effect than any special effects… :-)))
Anna Sophia Robb would be better choice for me. If you saw The Reaping I think you know what am I talking about. that's what I call cute, blond, young but frightening hhh – enjoy the movie, whatever it is –

she looks coniving but innocent jane is supposed to be mentaly powerful thats her strength i think of jane pretty anyway and i think of her with short strawberry blonde hair i think dakota fits perfectly!

In my opinion Dakota Fanning is pertrayed at a little girl, and that's all she will ever be in my eyes. I don't think that she is the best….choice? for "New Moon". When i think of Dakota Fanning I don't think about deadly vampire, I think about little school girl. :/ I am a huge fan of Fanning but I just don't think she can fill the shoes of Jane. Best of luck to her though.
