Dakota Fanning in ‘New Moon’?
E! online is reporting that Dakota Fanning is in talks to co-star in ‘New Moon’. Ă‚ Evidently, she is being handed the part of Jane.
“There were no auditions,†ť a source reveals. “They just offered it to her outright, and now they’re in negotiations. They’ve been going back and forth.†ť
In the novels, Jane is a member of Italy’s Volturi, the most deadly group of vampires known to man. Ă‚ Somehow, Fanning’s name just doesn’t cry out to me when thinking about the most deadly vampire in the world.
It is also reported that an online petition was set up to cast Fanning in the part, as fans of the novels feel she would be perfect for the role.

dakota as jane?
hmmmmm…i just think she’s too famous…jane is suppost to be very pretty, so dakota would suit jane for that reason, but one of the things I liked about the twilight movie was that there weren’t that many familier faces(apart from Bella=into the wild and Edward=harry potter, and even then, they weren’t the main rolls)…i also imagined jane to be very intimidating, but dakota doesn’t really suit that definition…then again, with makeup,and thanks to her acting skills, she might play the roll very well.
yes, Dakota is a fantastic actress and does fit the descriptions of Jane . but what is she? like 15 ? when Jane pops into my head, she’s atleast 20 . and dakota is a young looking person . so my opinion, dakota should not play jane in New Moon.

When Jane was first introduced in the book i thought Dakota Fanning Would be PERFECT to play her character.
I really like the ideas of her playing Jane. She would be PERFECT especially since the other people chosen to play Emette and Edward really SUCK!!
Dakota is a fab actress but not as Jane, as people have said, she is too common and well know. they need to cast an unknown actress who will suprise us. Like Edward who i have fell in love with lol! and Kristen who played Bella was an amazing actress because she wasn’t a common actress!

What is it with people and names or appearances. Will an executive that was fired and now wants to work in a McDonald’s be turned down? Don’t think of her as the name, her job is to act, if she does it well like other she deserves a chance to try. It isn’t her fault everyone knows her name from early movies. And if we even know her name it is because she did a good job in her other roles. Stop looking into characters more than there should be. If we all could do this Jennifer Lopez would still be working.
first of all i think dakota fanning will be perfect just because she sort of does have that really pretty/ evil look about her. secondly, where does it say that jane is twelve? i’d really like to know because ms. fanning really does not look that old. and who cares if she has been in a lot of movies? i honestly think kristen stewart sucked as an actress because she was so stale and boring
it seems awkward to hear it at first, but i actually think she would be good. people are saying that she’s too girly, but good actors are flexible and can play multiple kinds of characters. she’s been great ascreppy characters before, so i think she’ll be great =]
She is playing Jane I think she will do well! plus she looks like I thoutgh Jane would well kinda I imagend Darker haor and plus the guy who is playing alec is soposed to look like heer and he totally doesnt
I think Dakota will be PERFECT for the role as Jane! She looks exactly how I pictured her when I read the book.. In the book(s) Meyer describes Jane as a kind of girly, fragile-looking little vampire.. And when I think of how Jane looks like, I think of her as a little innocent, beautiful girl, although she is deadly..

Dakota fanning is not a veary good part for Jane because she is to nice. I can’t IMAGEN Dakota playing the role of one of the most DEADLY vampires in the world of twilight. I like her but she needs to stay out of the way and find a nother movie because she is defanatly not right for this part. Dakota, Back away NOW!

Not her, i don’t belief she’s suitable for this roll. Look at her does she look like a deadly vampire, i don’t think so. She looks much too childish. Find a other roll for her maybe in the third book (i haven’t read that one but so what). just don’t give her the roll of jane. It’s not that i don’t like her, i just don’t want to see her in that roll.
I’ve read through a lot of the comments. I am astonished. She is too well known? Edward (Robert Pattinson) was freaking Cedric Dickery. She is too cute to be a vampire? Look at Alice. She is as cute as a button. I think she is quite suitable. I’ve read all the books. Multiple times. Jane is supposed to be this petite little girl who has the power to torture you with her mind. Not some repulsive creature. I obviously don’t think some of these people have seen all the movies Dakota Fanning is in. She is a great actress with many plateaus. I say dye her hair black and have at it! I can’t wait to see it!!!!!

Sorry Dakota your hecka cute, seriously don’t get me wrong, but Jane is supose to be, well as I thought it to be explained: brunette, and kind of mysterious, and in a way a little evil, and honey you are the complete oposite!!!! I think you should stay to the more calmer, uh, relaxed movies i guess you could say. So i defiantly am a big no on the Jane gig.
P.S. Dakota you totally rocked on The Secret Life of Bees, and lucky you, you got to kiss a pretty boy.

Completley agree with Kim….like dying hair is not an option anymore….get over it people. She’ll surprise you…im sure. Every movie she was in she step to the plate…how you gonna say she should stick to a certain movie…dats dumb…how do you know if your acting range is that good if you stick to certain movies. Make up will help and the well-known thing…really? Shes too well known…So what? Its not gonna make the movie a complete disaster…lol…yall tearing her down b4 yall even see it…see the movie than judge….its better that way!

umm..i dont think dekota would fit the bill…#1 because shes to happy and cheerful and bright,when i think of jane i think of a little youg girl with brutel black hair in a bun and a long swaying cloak.#2 because shes a little to old,in the book it said she looked like a really younge girl..no offense dikota.#3 shes too tall. srry…but maby she can pull off the role she is a great actress but those makeup artists better be good ones…but my opinion is still no…:(

Shes supposed to LOOK innocent, smile happily almost all the time, and be sadistic.
Like when she tests her power on Bella, at first bella doesn’t understand why Edward suddenly freaks out, beacause she’s smiling sweetly NOT evily.
So I think she’d be rather good at it. She just needs to learn how to do a convincing glare as well as the cuteness, and VOILA! Perfect Jane.
Oh, and in the book Jane has (quote) “lank, pale brown hair trimmed short” so I think she should keep the colour but trim it to slightly longer than bob length? Dunno. I don’t really mind that much, but if they make her hair dark I will be slightly pissed because it’s not right, unnecessary, and Stephanie is supposed to work closely wth them so why can’t they just keep it like the book as much as possible.
So, yep. I think she’d be good.

i dont really care if she plays the part or not as long as the movie is good then i am fine…but the thing is you should really find someone different to play the part sorry dakota but no wayyyy..!!.. maybe get someone in auditions you will find someone great to find i know you dont want to but atleast try it…you might find someone perfect enough to play it
well i think that dakota is too much of a lil girl to play the part! and i just flat out dont like her. She needs to know that 2/3 of her comments are bad ones. She does not fit into twilight at all and i hope they find someone else to put in her spot!!! it will be a big disapointment if they go on with her. it will actually prolly make the movie suck a lil just because of her. srry not the best choice ya’ll have made. she needs to be in a disney channel movie or something. i mean come on people..you really think she fits with kirsten and rob? I think that she deserves a chance to prve people wrong. She is an amazing actress and has always been able to develop into any character in her preivous films so why should being a vampire be any different. I would love to see Dakota in New Moon.

Jane in the book new moon, is petite and so is dakota! she has quote meyer "pale brown hair" which dakota is pretty close too. so dakota and jane are petite, slender, beautiful, and right hair color. dakota isnt too old! no where in the book New Moon does it say that jane is a girl of the age 12! no where! i have read it hundreds of times! all the books and it doesnt say anywhere her age of when she was transformed from human to vampire. and jane is intimidating. i think with other movies dakota has done with her facial expressions and her acting skills she can pull it off to an extend, but then of course the only things that could play vampires right are …well…vampires. too bad they didnt exsist. if they did summit entertainment would get them to act the parts. :)
sure, no human can be perfect for the part of the beautiful breathtaking vampires that stephanie meyer created with her heart, soul and mind. i mean! seriously look at the rest of the cullens, sure they are hot as humans but no where near as gorgeous as steph's vamps!
