‘X-Men’ may see a fourth installment, sort of…

Submitted by Travis on Wednesday, 19 November 2008One Comment

Word is out that we “may” see a younger X-Men for the fourth installment, as Josh Schwartz talks with Fox about possibly writing ‘X-Men: First Class’. Schwartz was the creator of hit shows like ‘The O.C.’ and ‘Gossip Girl’. Apparently, Schwartz’s idea for the continuation of the franchise is to approach it from the POV of a younger X-Men team.

This could go a couple of different directions, one of them being to develop the script as a prequel, depicting Cyclops and a few other key mutants when they were younger and still learning from Xavier. Another possible direction would be to focus on some of the young students attending Xavier’s school for the gifted as introduced in the first ‘X-Men’ movie.

What do you think? Is this a recipe for disaster? Is this a step in the right direction to revive the franchise? Will this become too teen-centric?

The creator of the O.C wants to helm a X-Men movie? Worst idea evar! I can’t even begin to fathom how disgusting this is going to turn out. Fcking terrible! They want to dumb down the franchise and turn it into Twilight… and the sad part is tweenies are going to watch it. I’m not one to judge a product when it’s just being conceptualized, but they’re already getting off on a bad foot by attaching anyone associated with the O.C and Gossip Girl.
