The Movie Geeks Catch Will Smith’s ‘Seven Pounds’ Roadshow.
Last Wednesday Will Smith and his rolling roadshow showed up in St. Louis to promote his new film ‘Seven Pounds’ and give back to the community. If there is a red carpet you can bet the Movie geeks will be on it! Hundreds of fans turned out, some showing up as early as 6 hours prior to the kickoff. Smith, in addition to screening his film for a few lucky fans, donated 300 Thanksgiving turkeys to the St. Louis Food Banks and the Urban League. Guests in attendance were some local celebs like:
Mickey Carroll (one of the last surviving munchkins from the Wizard of Oz),
American Idol finalist Niko Smith,
James Burgess (President of St. Louis Urban League) and St. Louis Rams players:
Smith made his entrance, not at the red carpet, on the far side of the parking lot making his way through the crowd of screaming fans. Smith paused for photos and autographs making sure he greeted as many fans as he could putting the press and the Movie geeks last.
It’s nice to see a celebrity with his priorities straight. Smith definitelydoes. Smith fielded red carpet questions about the new film ‘Seven Pounds’, status of Jada and the kids, Oldboy(2010) with Steven Spielberg, and any sequels on the horizon. Not to be repetitive, I decided to ask a Philly question..Geno’s or Pat’s…what is the best cheesesteak? Will set me straight “stay away from the touristy places, the small spots are the best. I had a small pizzeria near my house growing up that had the best steak sandwich”. I followed with the St. Louis angle, and asked him if he had a chance to try some of the local fare like Imo’s pizza or toasted Ravioli? Smith ” It has been a whirlwind day, No I haven’t but I would love to next time in town”.
Following the interviews, and our hearing coming back from all the screaming fans, we made our way into the theater to check out ‘Seven Pounds’. We snagged some seats in the first few rows, prepared to be entertained, and none other than Will Smith himself strolls in to introduce the film. Smith is hitting 5 cities on his ‘Seven pounds’ road-trip: St. Louis, Denver, Cleveland Miami and Dallas. If you live in one of these cities go down and check out the event. If you don’t you can see some of the photos from the St. Louis stop below.
A message to St. Louis fans: Will Smith came out and help support our community…so on December 19th go out and see ‘Seven Pounds’ and return the favor!

How was the actual movie? Any good?
The movie was incredible! Powerful story and great acting. If you’re prone to getting choked up, I recommend going to the movie armed with Kleenex.
