Spotnitz and ‘The X-Files’ refuses to stay down!

Submitted by Travis on Tuesday, 18 November 20082 Comments

Writer/Producer Frank Spotnitz apparently still has faith in the awesome TV series turned lame movie franchise. Currently Spotnitz is apparently working on some “hush hush” TV projects, but has said he would welcome a third ‘X-Files’ movie. Spotnitz hints around that December 2012 plays a significant role in the X-Files universe, but that’s a ways off in the future to release a third installment and it would be competing with Roland Emerich’s movie ‘2012′. After the somewhat luke-warm reception of the ‘X-Files: Fight the Future’ and the very disappointing follow-up ‘X-Files: I Want to Believe’, is there REALLY still a market for a third ‘X-Files’ movie?

The franchise has been burned to the ground. All the eerie mystique the show once possessed went out the window the moment Xzibit appeared on screen.

I am so glad they are still going through with this. Since the beginning of the summer, my wife and I have been rewatching the series, and I was really disappointed in the film and how it didn’t feel a bit like an X-Files story. I hope a third film would go back to the mythology of the series and give the whole X-Files story the proper closure fans deserve.
