Marc Forster Set to Direct ‘World War Z’

Submitted by Jeremy on Thursday, 13 November 2008No Comment

Paramount has signed director Marc Forster (’Strange Than Fiction’, ‘Quantum of Solace’) to direct the big-screen adaptation of Max Brooks’ bestselling novel, ‘World War Z’.  The film will deal with a zombie apocalypse scenario as told from the viewpoint of several witnesses to it after the fact.

The screenplay has been written by J. Michael Straczynski (’Changeling’), and the film is being produced under Brad Pitt’s company, Plan B.

“The genre always fascinated me, and when they pitched it to me, it reminded me of the paranoid conspiracy films of the ’70s like ‘All the President’s Men,’ ” Forster told Variety.

What do you think of this choice?  Have you read the novel?  How do you think Forster/Straczynski will pull off the out-of-the-ordinary structure the novel had?
