Will Smith is a phenominal (Idk how to spell that) actor. Let’s look at him as that. Stop looking at the negative and search for the positive. All people do is hate on others. Stop drinking that hatorade and find something else to gulp down (no achohol it damages your brain). If you don’t think he’s great, you should make your own movie and see if you even gets close to what he’s making. How about them apples? :) :):):):):):):):):):)

Thanks for the research, but this is nothing more than scientology damage control. Will Smith is not an idiot. He learned a good lesson from Tom Cruise’s mistakes. You can be a scientologist all you want but keep your mouth shut about it. Of course they are going to downplay the teaching methods of this school, but if a scientologist is paying the bills, you can bet there is something more going on there. Scientology is not just a “religion that have members that are a little on the goofy side” as Nick tells it. It is cult. Having said that, I still don’t believe that is the only reason Will Smith will not get an Oscar. It has more to do with him being too big a “movie star” to be taken seriously as an actor.
But thats just me.

Wow, you guys went crazy over this whole Scientology thing, and to say that it will effect them winning an Oscar is outrageous! He WILL win an Oscar, it is crazy to believe that it wont happen. Somewhere along the line he will submit to a little indie flick and because it has him in it he will get a nom and a win for it…just wait.

Scientology is the icing on the Tom Cruise Bashing Cake because, let’s face it, that religion is an easy target. He gets shit slung at him for having loose lips and talking as if he holds a PHD in medicine but Will Smith is by all accounts an incredibly nice fellow who not only doesn’t jump up and down on couches but holds education in high esteem.

The world likes nice people, and face facts: all religions have members that are a little on the goofy side.

AND… if we’re going to argue Oscar travesties, then why didn’t Sweden submit “Let The Right One In” as their contender for the Foreign-Language category?

I can agree with Oscar being a little cool towards comedy, but blockbusters?

Sorry, Panda, I’m still holding out hope that Dark Knight gets a Best Picture nomination. You can say, “I told you so” if it doesn’t go down, but looking at the offerings the fall has given us so far, I don’t think it’s gonna take much effort for Dark Knight to get the nod.

“We are a secular school, and just like all nonreligious independent schools, faculty and staff do not promote their own religions at school or pass on the beliefs of their particular faith to children.â€

Less than a month later, ‘Hancock’ made $227 million at the domestic box office. I don’t think his fans turned on him. They turned on Cruise because of his wacky antics, and the ticket sales for M:I3 reflected that. Will Smith, on the other hand, hasn’t done any wacky, Scientology-based actions, his box office sales have not been effected one bit, and the man will win an Oscar sooner rather than later.

Done. End of argument. I’m going to enjoy a shitty vampire movie! See ya’!

Jeez Michelle….you get your head any father up there we won’t be able to save you from the Panda shit. On the non blog IM message you did in fact say that no scientologist would ever win. Now that you have been called on it you are backing off of it. Now if you like Hubbard and Jump on a couch with Oprah you will never win an Oscar. I missed the episode where Will Jumped on the couch …can you send me the DVD? Oscars shun comedies, and blockbusters so if Dark Knight gets the shaft I wouldn’t be suprised but all the voters should be ashamed. Maybe instead of michelle shaking her Pom Poms you could have her as your fact checker instead????hmmmmmm.

Put the bong down and pay attention Ram Man. I didn’t say NO scientologist will ever get an Oscar. I said they aren’t going to give one to Will Smith. Or Tom Cruise for that matter. Forest Whitaker (who by the way, is only loosely associated with the religion) and Paul Haggis are not the ones jumping on couches on Oprah or opening up schools that teach scientology.
As for Will Smith “pulling one down in the next 5 years”, that’a just as delusional as thinking that Dark Knight will get a best picture nomination…HAHAHAHAHAHA…..seriously?
