to March 13th, 2009, instead of November 21st, 2008, and one could only assume this is because of the impending SAG strike. I am actually pretty bummed about this, because I think it looks amazing!
That also means no Oscar for Jamie Foxx this year, even though all of the buzz has been created.
Actually, it’s probably because of the WGA strike that already came and went. All the studios are looking at a 2009 that won’t have nearly the amount of product that hit the theaters this year.
Some people might see this as a bad thing or that Paramount doesn’t believe in the film. I bet that’s not the case. I bet that they do believe in the film, but it happens to star a Mr. Robert Downey, Jr. This is a guy that helped catapult two big summer movies past the 100 million dollar mark. So, couple that with the fact that Paramount might seriously be considering an Oscar push for Downey, Jr.’s role in “Tropic Thunder”… I wager that they are looking to maximize profits in ’09.
Now if I could just find a way to maximize my profits…

wow you think an oscar push for Tropic Thunder? I hadnt thought of that!
Yeah… ‘Soloist’ would stand to make a pretty penny on its own but imagine if the posters can mention ‘Iron Man’ and a recent Oscar nod…
