Scott Goes To ‘Forever War’

One of my favorite directors, Sir Ridley Scott, is finally returning to his strongest and most successfulĂ‚  themes….Sci-Fi. It was announced thatĂ‚  FOX 2000Ă‚  has obtained the rights to Joe Haldeman’s “The Forever War.”Ă‚  Scott said the story, “revolves around a soldier who battles an enemy in deep space for only a few months, only to return home to a planet he doesn’t recognize some 20 years later.” Initially slatedĂ‚  to be aĂ‚  directorial debut forĂ‚  Richard Edlund, the visual effects genius behind ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark,’Ă‚  ’The Forever War’Ă‚  never gotĂ‚  beyondĂ‚  the developmental phase…til now.

Ever since his Oscar-winning ‘Gladiator,’ Scott hasn’t quite been on his game. So glad to see he’s back in his element from which he sprang.Ă‚  ’Alien’ and ‘Blade Runner’ are the I-ChingĂ‚  of the Sci-Fi genre. Scott will direct ‘War,’ a Scott-Free production,Ă‚  after finishingĂ‚  ’Nottingham.’
