Kevin Smith Week is now in full swing with some great posts about the man and his films. I decided to follow up my coverage of his Zack and Miri Make A Porno Q and A from last Thursday with a post about a video I recently put up on my website. In Fall 2005, I was lucky enough to meet Kevin Smith for the first time at a DVD signing he held at his store in Red Bank, NJ. I brought my camera along and decided to ask for a little interview. After waiting outside for over 5 hours, I was glad to find that the reason for the huge wait was that Kevin Smith truly cares about his fans. He took the time to talk and really connect with everyone who showed up, unlike some celebrities I’ve met who barely greet you and just push you along. He agreed to the interview and it actually lasted until I ran out of questions. He also gave some sound advice on filmmaking; advice that helped me when making Stuck Like Chuck. Last month I took a clip from my film and combined it with some of the interview footage from 2005. I altered the footage/audio and edited the video in a way to resemble the film that’s inspired a generation of filmmakers. Enjoy!
