‘Iron Man’: King o’ the Discs

In news that surprises absolutely no one, ‘Iron Man’ broke the single-day record on Blu-Ray sales dishing out 260,000 copies.   After its first week available, ‘Iron Man’ sold 7.2 million DVDs and 500,000 Blu-Ray Discs.   This already makes it the highest selling Blu-Ray Disc of the year.

On DVD ‘Iron Man’ outsold its nearest competitor, ‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall’ by a margin of nearly seven to one.   Likewise, on Blu-Ray, ‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall’ sold less than 7% of the amount ‘Iron Man’ sold.

We’ll see if the records hold come December 9th when ‘The Dark Knight’ gets its DVD and Blu-Ray release.
