Discuss: ‘Twilight’..are you excited or not?

The movie opens in less than a month and I am getting hounded by every woman I know for screening passes, so it begs the question, are you excited for this or not?

Honestly I will be glad when this movie, and the 4 or 5 sequels it spawns have come and gone because I am absolutely, super tired of hearing about it. Everywhere I turn people are reading the book, talking about the movie, asking “is it normal to be attracted to a fictional vampire?”. Its seriously ridiculous! I dont remember the Potter fever hitting this hard, but maybe thats because the internet wasnt as powerful then as it is now.

So tell me..are you guys excited?

  1. A vampire movie minus blood, sex and everything that makes vampire movies cool? Color me there!

  2. Panda Hugger says:

yeah, aren’t we done with Vampire movies yet? When it comes to vampires in film, everything has been done already and more than likely, much better. Lost Boys? Interview With The Vampire? I think we’ve covered it. Somebody pass the garlic!

  3. umm…i’m excited hehe. i get you’re sick of hearing about it yada yada yada but same can go with anything anybody loves at the moment. i think the big reason why the potter fever didn’t hit so hard was because it is vampires, something that’s darker than a kid with a wand. plus, if you’ve read all the books, there is blood, sex, and everything that makes vampires cool. And I don’t think we’re done with vampire movies, we just haven’t seen a good one in awhile.

  4. I am very excited for this movie. I just read all the novels within the last couple of months when I saw that they had made a movie based on the first one. And there should be blood in the movie, the books have blood… and as far as the sex, well these books manage to make “abstinance” SO INCREDIBLY sexy. Even as a married woman with a healthy sex life I was quite turned on by the intimate scenes in the books. I only hope the movie can capture even a fraction of the power the stories by Stephenie Meyer put on the page and into my imagination. And I also, along with so many other girls in the world, have incomprehensibly become very attracted to the fictional vampire Edward, and I think Robert Pattinson is at least physically going to really DO IT for me. We’ll see how his acting is. Why did Harry Potter not seem to have this much of a buzz? Harry Potter was a young nerdy wizard type, not a drop dead gorgeous blood sucker. So yeah, that’s what I have to say about that. Oh and there can NEVER be too many vampire movies.

  5. I don’t doubt for a minute that there is plenty of blood, sex, all of the above in the books. I’m just going by the PG-13 rating this thing is already slapped with and the glorified CW feel that I got from watching the trailer. The books might be great. The movie looks horrible.

  6. I did kind of get that glorified CW feel from the trailer too. I’m not going into it with super high hopes, but I’m excited none the less. I’m a big fan of teen based drama and vampires so when you put them together I have to at least check it out. On a related note, the True Blood series on HBO is super rated R with ridiculous amounts of sex and a decent amount of blood and yet it’s not so good. So it just goes to show you, blood and sex are really great things (ha ha) but if the story sucks then well, the whole thing still sucks. I still watch True Blood though… hoping for it to grow on me.

  7. If you want to see a vampire film this fall, then by all means go and see ‘Let The Right One In.’

It is like no other vampire film I’ve ever seen. If it goes unnoticed by the Academy come awards season I will be very, very surprised.

  8. I cannot wait for the chance to check out ‘Let the Right One In’. I just really hope the gratuitous, Hollywood remake doesn’t get greenlit any time soon.

I also really like ‘True Blood’. It was a little slow getting started, but I have a feeling once we get into the meat of the show, it’s really going to take off. And yes, for those who have not checked ‘True Blood’ out, super-duper Rated R!

  9. Transylvania 90210 will be like Dracula drinking holy water…fatal! I understand the books are supposibly very good but from the trailers and early reports…this thing may blow harder than the breeze in the Happening! and the stench from that still lingers. I just think, as Jeremy stated, with such good TV shows going on like True Blood on HBO and having classics like Lost Boys that will garner a comparison..I don’t think anyone will see the light of “Twilight”.

  10. I know, I know, Twilight is probably going to be a huge disappointment (for anyone who is actually thinking its going to be amazing) but I’m still going in with high hopes to be pleasantly surprised. (probably going in alone though cause I don’t think anyone is going with me!) And like I say, I keep watching True Blood, but I really feel like the writing and acting is a bit off. The sex and violence and violent sex is a bit heavy handed and forced and the “vampire discrimination” often comes off as cheesy and forced as well as opposed to clever or poignant. But I think most of us can agree that just because vampires “have been done” it doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be done any more or can’t continue to be done well.

  11. As I’ve never read the books (much like the Potter series), I can’t say that I really care. And probably if I’d read the books, I’d be disappointed because it wasn’t as good as the book…so no. I’m not excited.

  12. I just finished reading all 4 books. I’m so excited for this movie. If there is any free passes for this I would love one. These books are so good they suck you in from page one. No pun intended. LOL
