Stanley Kubrick certainly deserves one of the four spots. I can’t believe no one has mentioned Charlie Chaplan? Chaplan certainly gets one of the four spots, as he’s the quintessential American comedy filmmaker. Billy Wilder would be my second choice to represent this area of American filmmakers. I think the monument should be mindful of a diverse selection that encompasses more than just certain genres. Of course, it should consist of strictly American filmmakers, so unfortunately some of the greats (such as Kurosawa) are out. Let Japan add him to their monument… it’s more fitting. Alfred Hitchcock is a tricky one. He was born a Brit and started his career in England, but most of his films and success were in Hollywood. I’m counting him as number three for now. Now, number four I am struggling with… I think it’d be nice to have either a female director or an African-American director, but if we’re limited to four, who do I choose? Maybe we’ll cheat and change it to five giant stone heads…

Sergio Leone
My all time favorite. A small but powerful catalog of movies. “Once upon a time in the West” is the greatest Western ever.
The Brothers Cohen
“Blood Simple”, “Raising Arizona”,”Miller’s Crossing”, “The Big Lebowski”,”O’ Borther where art Thou”,”Intoleratable Cruelty”, “Fargo” and “No Country For old Men”. Consistantly different and excellent.
Speilberg
We all know why.
Ralp Bakshi
It was between him and Harryhaussen for their work in animation, but since Ray was not given director credit for his work I went with Bakshi. Forget Ferris Bueller, Heavy Traffic is the movie that had the best use of Twist and shout.

Kubrick should probably fit in there somewhere. We can only pick, four, you know. Not so sure about Coppola. He had a great run in the 70s, but, lately, he’s been kinda out of it.

We would have to get the hammer and chisels out, because we need a few more heads. Hitchcock and Kubrick have to be there. Spielberg has to be up there. I agree with Uwe Boll. And George Lucas for directing and contibutions to the art. Kevin Smith, still an up and comer, maybe a statue at the entrance to the monument.

Oh, that goes without saying about Uwe Boll. He’s actually too much of an icon to appear on the mountain with these hacks. In fact, we should rename it Mt. Boll.
