The Rock Goes Full Disney

Dwayne Johnson, formerly known as The Rock, has signed on to star in Disney’s newest attempt to bank on a film based on something from their theme park. The section of Walt Disney World known as Tomorrowland will be the inspiration behind a new sci-fi movie, according to Variety.

Jon Lucas and Scott Moore (‘Rebound’) are attached to write the screenplay.   The film is considered a vehicle for Johnson, who is also appearing in a new Disney remake of ‘Race to Witch Mountain.’

Disney did deny that the film is dedicated to Tomorrowland or that the film will be called ‘Tomorrowland’.   They claim that it will be a wholly original “epic-sized action adventure set in space.”

It looks like Johnson is no longer concerned with becoming the “next Arnold Schwarzenegger” unless he’s skipped past the ‘True Lies’ era straight to the ‘Jingle All the Way’ era.

  1. I think if anyone is banking on being the next Schwarzenegger, The Rock stills has it handled.

  2. You really think he has the edge over Jason Statham. I know that guy doesn’t pick the best films to be in, but he has to be the coolest and most badass guy in films today. You think?
