Viva Cliche!

If you have a spare moment, head over to www.moviecliches.com and see what makes their list. It’s pretty comprehensive, my favorite being an entire section dedicated to ID4.

Of course, this got me thinking, “What’s my most memorable movie cliche?”

I, personally, have to go with the the insane sound fx that accompanies any Hollywood fistfight. As a prime example, watch the first ten minutes of the Schwarzenegger/Belushi masterpiece, ‘Red Heat.’ Every time Arnie punches a Russian it sounds like a damn explosion, like he’s packing his fists with gun powder.

Tell me, reader, what is your favorite (or most annoying) movie cliches?

  1. I have to say, though, I do love those punching sound effects when used in an Indiana Jones movie. I have to say my favorite cliche is in any war film, when a guy talks about his wife or newborn baby back home, he is sure to die a horrible death.
