Review: ‘Heroes, Season 2′ on DVD

Submitted by Ram Man on Wednesday, 27 August 2008No Comment

I never get excited about Tuesday. It’s usually the “second” Monday of the week. There is no football, and unless I’m off work on Wedensday… Tuesday is just another day. That was the case until TODAY! Heroes Season 2 has just been released on DVD! This is the best show currently in production on TV! Universal has timed this release so that you the fans can catch back up with Hiro, Claire and Peter before Season 3: Villains begins on September 22nd on NBC.

Those of you that have never seen or heard of this… imagine if ‘X-Men’ were true. There were people like you and me that have gifts they are genetically born with. Like a cheerleader that is indestructible or a Japanese office worker who can travel through time. But there are also the ones who use their powers to hurt and kill. This is the premise of the TV series “Heroes” A group of people with special abilities hiding from the government and scientist that would cage them and the villains that would kill them and take their powers. Those of you thinking this is just another comic book hit the TV…this ain’t Smallville! Heroes is well written and superbly acted. Season 2, subtitled “Generations” finds all of our “Heroes” four years following Peter’s nuclear meltdown. HRG, Claire and the rest of the Bennett’s have relocated in California under a new name. Hero has travelled back to ancient Japan and met Kensei and now must correct the past before returning to the future. Peter Petrelli wakes up in Ireland in a cargo container with no memories of who or what he is. Nathan is gone. And Sylar is powerless and stuck in Mexico. But he meets a set of twins that can remedy his situation. This is just the cliff notes on eleven wonderful hours of television.

Now for all you “Heroes” fanatic like myself and Travis… I am telling you to go out and buy… not rent, no borrowing..buy the DVD of season 2 for two awesome reasons! 1. There is an alternate ending for episode 11 “Powerless”that has mysterious virus wiping out the city of Odessa, Texas with Parkman and the Petrelli brothers trying to stop it. You also get an extended look at Season 3: Villains. Villains will feature and new rogues gallery of bad guys and girls. Our buddy Sylar is back and has Claire in his sights again! This show gets better andbetter every year!I also found out that the working title of Season 4 is “Fugitives” , Tim Kring gave a crowd at the Edinburgh TV Festival the scoop on the title which will take place during the first 13 episodes of season 3 and “Fugitives” will run another 12 episodes after that.

If you aren’t lucky enough to have Season one already on DVD, Best Buy and Amazon.com are offering special package deals for seasons 1 &2 that will save you about $40-$50 . It’s a three day weekend with no Rams football, so Ram Man is going to plant himself in front of the 62″ HD big screen TV and start with episode 1 and I’m not moving until I have seen every episode alternate ending and the most excellent preview of season 3: Villains. Who’s with me!!!!!!!
