Pegg Trading in ‘Bastards’ for a ‘Superbad’ Director

Submitted by Jeremy on Sunday, 17 August 20083 Comments

In news that will surely dissapoint many, Simon Pegg has decided to bow out of appearing in Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Inglorious Bastards’.  Tarantino is rushing ‘Bastards’ into production in October, and Pegg ran into scheduling issues.

“We really tried to make it work, but in the end, it was just not possible without severe ramifications elsewhere,” Pegg wrote on his blog. “I’m trying to remain upbeat, as Tom Selleck said, ‘Who the hell is Indiana Jones anyway?’”

The good news on the Simon Pegg front, however, is that his next film, ‘Paul’, has aquired a director.  Greg Mottola, who directed last year’s ‘Superbad’, will helm the Pegg and Nick Frost written comedy.  The film follows two British comic book geeks who get into an adventure across America.  Unlike ‘Shaun of the Dead’ and ‘Hot Fuzz’, Frost will be the lead this time around with Pegg serving as the sidekick.

Simon Pegg is one of my favorite actors right now. I loved him in ‘Run Fatboy Run’ and ‘Hot Fuzz’. I can’t wait to see him in ‘How To Lose Friends & Alienate People’.

now if we can just get Mike Meyers to not do the movie too, everything will be fine.

Hey, let’s green-light ‘Austin Powers 4′ ASAP so that he has scheduling conflicts and is forced to back out!
