‘Freddy vs Jason’ sequel has no Ash …
Bloody-Disgusting sat down with Robert Englund (Freddy) and had a chat about some things. One of the things they spoke of was the sequel to ‘Freddy vs. Jason’ and Mr. Englund brought up the fact that Ash (played by Bruce Campbell in the Evil Dead/Army of Darkness movies) is off the table.
“There is no Ash,” says Englund. “That’s off the table because I think Raimi is remaking Evil Dead.“
Now I think this news is more than disappointing but it does have a redeeming quality in the fact that Sam Raimi is working on an Evil Dead sequel. I think having Ash fight these guys would be kick ass, except for the fact that neither can die.
aren’t they rebooting both franchises? they’re still going to have Freddy Vs Jason 2?
Yeah, They just talked to Derek about doing a freddy vs jason 2 and he seemed stoked about it.
wow, crazy. it’s kinda weird that Englund would be in the F VS J, but not in the Nightmare remake. it’s a strange movie world we live in.
I am of the camp that believes no one will make a better Freddy than Mr. Englund, but with that said I am interested in seeing what the “new guy: does for the character, which will likely (and should) change the character. Nothing would upset me more than if they recast Freddy and then the “new guy” just tried to emulate Robert’s performance(s). Too bad about the three-way with Ash not happening… that’d been a ton-o-fun!
