Jason Statham in Frank Miller’s ‘Daredevil’?

LA Times had a chance to sit down with Frank Miller and Jason Statham, who chatted about a potential “Daredevil” movie, which could star Statham as the title character.
When Miller worked for Marvel Comics, his work on “Daredevil” added new depth to the character, but Mark Steven Johnson’s 2003 adaptation (starring Ben Affleck) was not very well received by fans or critics. So when the topic of “Daredevil” came up, Miller was more than happy to discuss.
Statham said he is eager to work with Miller at some point and that he adores the Daredevil character. “Just give me the chance, I would love to be Daredevil,” he said. When the newspaper suggested that Statham would make a better Bullseye, he quickly bounced back with: “Forget Bullseye, I want to be Daredevil!”
Miller agreed with him: “I think he should be Daredevil too.”
I’m not to sure about him playing the next Daredevil…this guy is a bad-ass but he is too small and cannot pull off the devil look. How do you feel about Statham playing the Daredevil?

I LOVE the idea of Frank Miller revamping the ‘Daredevil’ franchise (and I’m sure Kevin Smith would love this), but, as much as I enjoy Jason Statham, I think he’s a bad choice. He’d probably handle the action much better than Ben Affleck, but when I visualize which actors “fit” the character, Statham isn;t even a tiny blip on my radar. I would actually see him more as a villain like Bullseye, but he’s already been done quite well by Colin Farell. I know this will sound kind of bandwagon-ish, but I’d love to see Brad Pitt take on Daredevil… much more so than seeing him as Captain America or Thor.
I would much rather see Statham in something that involves him kicking tail with guns as opposed to blind martial arts and a sweet walking stick. Maybe something more along the lines of the Green Arrow of even a take on Dr. Jeckyl/Mr. Hyde would be something interesting to see out of Statham, but not Daredevil.
Statham would be a great Matt Murdock or Bullseye. I hated Colin Farell as Bullseye and didn’t care too much for Michael Clarke Duncan. Brad Pitt would be weird as daredevil.
Ben, Jennifer and Favreau were great! If Miller, Favreau and Kevin Smith were involved with another flick it would great. If they also got Brian Michael Bendis involved with the script it would be a phenominal movie.
Statham cold pull of the Daredevil ninja moves no problem.
Why they made Elektra and not a Daredevil sequel is beyond me!
on a personal note, I just got a shipment o’ comics that included daredevil! yay!
I truely love the Daredevil story and would love to see it rebooted. Jason (while a great actor and martial artist) is not who I would pick for Matt Murdock. My dream cast?
Director:
Alex Proyas (He did both “The Crow” and “Dark City”)
Writer/producer:
Frank Miller of course
actors:
Mat Murdock/Daredevil = Daniel Craig
Elektra Natchios = Lena Headey
Kingpin = Micheal Clark Duncan (There just isn’t anyone else the right size who can act)
Bullseye = Matt Schultz
Stick = Some skinny old man around 5′6″ or so. Probably need an unknown for this. Though Stick wasn’t portrayed as Asian, it would be cool to see Jet Li in makeup and a shaggy silvery grey hair wig. Also what a cool box office draw for the film.

I still like the idea of Frank Miller writing the story for a ‘Daredeveil’ reboot, but after seeing ‘The Spirit’ I think he should stick to writing and leave the directing to those who understand it… because he certainly does not!
