‘CryptoZoo Crew’ Graphic Novel going Celluloid …

Submitted by Travis on Monday, 18 August 2008No Comment

Alcon Entertainment has acquired the rights to a graphic novel by Jerry Carr and Allan Gross called ‘Cryptozoo Crew’ … the plan is to adapt the book(s) into a feature film initially written by Joe Gazzam, whose been involved with writing the ‘21 Jump Street’ feature and the Nic Cage vehicle ‘Scared Straight’. Not a lot of confidence, have I, in this writer’s resume, but what I found interesting about this news is the source material. I’d not heard of this particular work of graphic fiction and it sounds somewhat interesting. Sort of a ‘Men in Black’ type of situation with a different twist. I’m sure it would make a killer cartoon, but a live-action movie I am unsure? I am starting to feel like the studios are reallyreaching for ideas, but aren’t necessarily considering whether the books they’re seeking out will translate well onto the big screen. What do you think, is the comic book trend growing out of control? Or, is this just the beginning of a vast new era of movie mania?
