Billy Bob Thornton is the New Freddy Kruger?
When Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes production company announced plans for a remake of Wes Craven’s horror classic “A Nightmare on Elm Street,” the big question was who would play Freddy Kruger. Robert Englund , who previously portrayed the iconic character, has endlessly stated that he should not be brought back to reprise the role. He believes that since the franchise is being started from scratch, a new actor should be cast.
JoBlo now reports that Englund went on the late night radio show “Loveline” last week, where he stated that while he is not in the loop, he has heard that the studio is interested in casting Billy Bob Thornton as Kruger.
Englund added that he is not opposed to being replaced and feels that the new remake should have a bigger budget for the dreamscape special effects.
I really hope this ends up not being true. Thornton is a great actor, but there needs to be a lesser known actor playing Kruger. It would just seem like Thornton in Kruger makeup. I don’t see him losing himself in the role. Now someone like Ben Foster, on the other hand, would be perfect.
I’m just sick over the whole idea of this remake, I could care less who they are gonna cast in the role of Freddy, as far as I’m concerned this developing film does not exist. The last thing I need is Michael Bay pooing all over another great franchise from my childhood. Do I sound snotty enough? Good.

I have seen all the Freddy Kruger movies but I have never been impressed by any of them. In any event, I think Billy Bob could probably play the part because he is already a very strange person. Anyone who would have a real electric chair in his bedroom (when he was married to Angelina) does not have a full deck.
they should keep englund i dont care if they make a 100 freddys no one can play but him i dont care who you are.and the guy that said on the comments he dont like freddy….fuck you then why the fuck do you care asshole?
im gonna have to go with ben foster. trust me people if he were to play the role you would not be disappointed. 30 days of night he was perfect in and even in alpha dog he took that role to another level and that is exactly what their looking for. so why not cast him. ben foster isn’t the best choice for the remake he is the ONLY choice.
