WAMG First Look: ‘Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist’
“High school student Nick O’Leary, (Michael Cera) member of the queercore band The Jerk Offs, meets college-bound Norah Silverber, (Kat Dennings) and asks her to be his girlfriend for five minutes in order to avoid his ex-sweetheart. (Alexis Dziena)”
I am a big fan of Kat Dennings with ’40 year old Virgin’, and ‘Charlie Barlett’… Michael Cera has been pretty good in ‘Superbad’ and ‘Juno’, but I dont want to fall into saying this is the next ‘Juno’ because, lets face it… do we really want the next ‘Juno’?
I say no to another Juno, and I think this will be a fun flick with Michael Cera though. He’s found his niche in playing the awkward nerdy teen, like Michael Anthony Hall for the new generation.
“Like Anthony Michael Hall for the new generation.” Does this mean in 10 years or so he’ll try and reinvent himself as a muscle-bound action star?
By the way, I don’t get why everyone’s bashing ‘Juno’ so hard? I mean, I really enjoyed ‘Juno’ for what it was … a funny movie. I do think that all the Oscar hype was over-blown and the ‘Juno’ fanboys/girls are a bit too obsessed, making more of the movie than it actually is. I’ve been tempted on several occasions to purchase ‘Juno’ on DVD, but keep finding myself thwarted by that little inner demon saying … “if you buy it, they’re all gonna laugh at you.”
There are no words to describe how bdacooius this is.
