Kilmer and Xzibit given parts in ‘Bad Lieutenant’

In a bit of “good idea, bad idea” casting news … two new roles have been filled on Werner Herzog’s next film, a modern re-telling of Abel Ferrera’s cult classic Bad Lieutenant about a corrupt cop who’s fallen off the wagon and everything else he could fall off of, finding himself stuck in a downward spiral. With Nicolas Cage already cast as the lead role originally portrayed brilliantly by Harvey Keitel (tough act to follow there Nic) and Eva Mendes cast as well, its just been announced that Val Kilmer has been cast as Nic’s partner and Xzibit has been cast as Nic’s nemesis … hmm … I can only assume that Herzog sees something he likes in both Cage and Xzibit, because neither choice seem typical of Herzog. Then again, who are we to judge a master of his art before the movie’s even been made?

Val Kilmer is looking a little on the chunky side these days, and Xhibit is an actor?…..that’s all I have to say.
