Favreau “un-officially” signs on for ‘Iron Man 2′
You would think this is something they would have done BEFORE they announced the release date for the sequel which didn’t have a director, writer, or script! They didn’t, but they have now!From Deadline Hollywood:
“It’s notĂ‚ officially announced yet, but I’m toldĂ‚ that Marvel Studios and Iron Man director Jon Favreau have reached a deal for him to helm the sequel, due out in 2010.Ă‚ (Robert Downey, Jr. had a sequel clause in his contract soĂ‚ he’s on board.)Ă‚ Marvel Studios bossĂ‚ David MaiselĂ‚ was quick toĂ‚ put out a “definitely” richerĂ‚ offer toĂ‚ Favreau, but not quick enough for Jon — who used the Internet and other media toĂ‚ rile up the movie’s many fans by spreading nonsense that Marvel was dragging its feetĂ‚ and thenĂ‚ low-balling him. Granted Maisel is no day at the beach himself, but, seriously, could Favreau have been more of an asshole?”
Well let me say that its about damn time! Favreau and Downey, Jr. created magic, so why this took so long I have no idea…
What ever gets him to make the movie! Pay the man. I guess they better get working on the script and begin casting Mandarin! I guess this means a trip to comic con in 2010 is in order (Ironman,Thor, Harry Potter & Deathly Hallows Part 1, Sin City 2)
Yeah, Marvel needs to slow its roll, it’s been making a lot of stupid decisions lately.
Even though it took a little longer than it should have this was a far gone conclusion. While Jon did a really good job on Iron Man he is not unreplacable. He is not Chris Nolan great, although he deserves to helm the 2nd one. All Jon Wanted was the big money and he probably got it!
They better pay Favreau even though he made a big deal out of it, he deserves the paycheck.
