Discuss: What Superhero Movie Needs to be Made?

Since ‘The Dark Knight’ is releasing on Friday, we wanted to give you guys something to take your minds off all the superhero hype going on for the movie. What better way than to discuss what Superhero/Comic Book movies should be made that haven’t been yet?!?

For example, Charles might talk about a reboot of The Dark Knight because he just cant get enough. Travis thinks that Marvel needs to bring in The Lizard into the Spider-man franchise. I think that Dolph Lundgren needs to be Thor, or Captain America. What about Harley Quinn into the Batman franchise? Clayface? Cable?

Who cares about our opinions though? We want to know what YOU guys want to see made?

  1. Where to begin… Green Arrow/Black Canary film with Aaron Eckhardt/Jessica Alba. Have Marvel re-tool Elecktra with Frank Miller in control and get a good actress that is a bad ass assasin. Green Lantern is in the works and so is Wonder Woman.. so a Justice league that brings Bale, routh and the stars of each individual film together would be welcomed.

  2. Well with the news leaking around that superman will get another reboot, i dont expect to see Routh at the helm of that. I would love to see a new Electra though with Frank Miller taking the ropes.

  3. I know I’ve said it before, but Scott Summers and Jean Grey needed to have their ‘Dark Phoenix’ story told on its own and with the respect and detail it deserves.

I’d also like to see Alpha Flight get some attention, adding further represention of the Canadian clan of superhero lore.

  4. I think Green Lantern is the most interesting franchise concept that DC has right, carrying the most story potential.

I would also like to see a Cloak and Dagger movie finally get made (the idea had been tossed around a while back) as well as Iron Fist.

Two ideas I would LOVE to see as movies that will never happen are Infinity Gauntlet and Age of Apocalypse.

  5. Good call on Infinity Gauntlet..think of the budget for that film..it’s the entire Marvel universe!

  6. Thinking outside the box here … what about Image Comics? I’d like to see a well-made WetWorks movie, or dare I say it … a live-action MAXX movie?

  7. X-men needs another flick! There are so many stores and characters they have not yet used. Bishop, Psylocke, more Gambit and Iceman. Or other X books: X-factor, X-Force, Excalibre!
or reboot the X-men/Spider-Man/Fantastic Four with the Ultimate universe, like the Avengers cartoon movie.
Daredevil under Kevin Smith and Brian Michael Bendis.
Deadpool will be in the new Wolverine but if he gets a spin off flick that would be great!
I am trying to remember some comics from my day….Gen 13, wildcats-grifter and backlash. There was this awesome little comic I got a few years back called “the clock maker” It was printed in a way where the whole book opened up to reveal large panels and the author did this to try and replicate the big screen experience.
I could go on longer but I am at work and now what to go home and look at my comics!

  8. Wonderwoman would be a good movie

  9. Some great ideas:

Archie Comics and Duck Tales comics adaptations please.

    Kool-Aid man comics The Movie.

A movie based on those comic books that came with the ALIENS toy line, but based on the action figures not the actual movie.

also, nobody talk about making The Maxx, that’s a dream project of mine and if you give any studio execs the idea I’ll beat you up. besides the animated MTV series was already pretty damn good. i also won’t be naming my other dream comic project out loud but it involves a character who’s name is suggestive of a wolf. DO NOT SAY IT OUT LOUD!

  10. Hey Brett, are they EVER going to release the Maxx series on DVD? I mean, DAMN IT! Give the fans what we want already, huh?

  11. no kidding. we only got Aeon Flux the complete series on a nice dvd when that FUBAR live-action film came out, which leads me to believe the same will be true for The Maxx. ugh.

  12. Captain America needs to be done proper…Wonder Woman should get her due…surprised nobody has mentioned The Flash!

  13. Actually, I brought him (The Flash) up earlier in an “off-line” movie geek conversation. I have been baffled as to why this one’s been in developmental Hell so long? I loved the TV series, but think a movie is much deserved. Not sure who I’d want to see play him though.

  14. It wasn’t a comic book, but I would love to see a darker rendition of Gargoyles on the bog screen. I loved the cartoon when I was a wee tyke and think it would make for a great gritty and gory movie. A great backstory and a good range of characters would make for a fantastic live-action movie I think.

  15. Sorry, “Gargoyles on the BIG screen”.

  16. I forgot to mention the comic “Powers” by Brian Bendis. He also did a comics call “Jinx” that Charlize Theron was wanting to do. I guess anything by Bendis would be good as a movie.
Everyone is different and has their opinion and mine is just leave the DC universe alone!! Batman is the only decent character they have and I would love to see more. Superman is just plain silly to me. He has the power to do just about anything and his weakness is a green rock. Every bad guy he fights could end like this: freeze them with his breath or burn them with his eyes and then throw the bad guy in to space! done and done! Wonder Woman has an invisible plane? Green Lantern’s power comes from jewelry? Green Arrow is just Robin Hood in the city. Come on DC, seriously…
Now Marvel, Image and Dark Horse have some good comics! IDW has some good stuff, most popular would be the “30 days of night”
Who published Hellboy? I think Hollywood is smart and going that route: Make movies of comics from smaller publishers.
Make movies from those publishers and leave DC alone, they have nothing more to bring to the table.

  17. Powers is amazing and is deserving of a smart adaptation. Bendis’ “Torso” is getting the big screen treatment by Fincher, I believe.

  18. DC has plenty to bring to the table. Green Lantern & Arrow could both be great. I’ve always liked Marvel more but still wanna see more from DC.
Also Wildcats, Wetworks or Cyberforce would be cool.
Even though I was truly disappointed with Spider-Man 3 I’d still like to see another one. Kraven’s Last Hunt would be great to see for 4 if they didn’t mess it up.

  19. Scorchio says:

I really want to see a Preacher movie I think it would be a great piece of film, it would be an 18/R all the way. I would love to see someone like David Fincher direct it.

I think DC needs to bring more to the table, I heard about a flash film that was kind of like a film noir that could be interesting. Not sure on casting for that one though. Green Arrow needs to be made to I am already trying to get Goslings name attached to it because he would be perfect as the Green Arrow and then we need a very good Justice League movie but it has to be based in Nolans world, but obviously some people will need super powers, it would be sweet though.
