Cruise to revive Maverick for Top Gun 2
Tom Cruise is in talks with the studios to bring back Pete “Maverick” Mitchell for Top Gun 2. 22 years after the original debuted in 1986, Cruise will have his character Maverick teaching at Top Gun and dealing with a cocky female fighter pilot. Hey Tom, has she “lost that loving feeling?” I guess we will all find out if he can smile and persuade a studio to sign a check to make this one. What do you guys think? Will a sequel detract from this hugely successful film?

Yeah, that’s what we want to see. A 46 year-old Maverick. Talk about someone tryin to revive a doomed career…or in need of a paycheck
wow…and we can’t all see the lame premise coming from a mile away? Let me guess….Maverick is now like what, 50? and he has returned to Top Gun as an instructor. And then after some lame subplot involving a spunky female pilot (Miley Cyrus anyone?), lo and behold some kind of air attack takes place (terrorism is my guess, since there is really not much creativity left in Hollywood)and our hero Maverick, despite being surrounded by the “best of the best”, has to overcome his past ghosts once again and jump in the plane to save the day, but not before a brief visit to the grave of “Goose”, his long lost wingman, to have a quick convo about what he should do. And of course the burning question, who does he take as the wingman? Spunky Miley? or the resident hotshot a-hole who is talented, but dangerous?(and this role will be played by Shia Lebouf, until he wakes up and realizes that taking this role would be career suicide, so they then cast Zac Efron, because after all, he is today’s “Tom Cruise”, right? Lets hope this mess never gets made, seriously.
maybe he saw Rocky and Rambo and thought Stallone can do it..So Can I! I agree this is a slippery slope with Pete Michell in the Tom Skeritt role and maybe bring back Tim Robbins to be his wing man. I agree there must be the acadasmy moment at Gooses grave in DC when he breaks up with “Charlie”. They must stay away from any disney channel alums for this….It’s a shame with such a good perfomance in his current film and high hopes for Tom as a Nazi ..that we are going to be subjected to this. Hey maybe Judge, Phoebe, sean and the gang can get back together for Fast Times the college reunion..NOT!

I don’t use the bong til after work before I go into the theater. Do you want to borrow it for Pineapple express????
sorry I forgot, those of us non-geeks wouldn’t have known that Tom Cruise has a cameo in Tropic Thunder. Wouldn’t exactly call that his “current film”, but we’ll let it slide this time..haha
More than a cameo sister! He’s one of the top things in the film! Tropic Thunder is very current..just because a select few in LA LA LA land haven’t seen it yet..doesn’t mean it’s not out there.

I’ll say it again..ITS NOT A CAMEO! A cameo is what your boy M. Night does in all his “good” movies….He has multiple scenes..and a True Geek (that didn’t have a family emergency in spud nation) that is out in LALA land should have seen it already! It’s like waiting three weeks to see the Dark Knight..Bogus.
Sounds like sour grapes..I belive it has screened numerous times in many states including yours. Maybe try a littl eharder to get out and catch a screening there sis!
I can send you a pass for a screening here if that will help you..maybe Mrs. M Night can put you up for the weekend again and you can catch a screening.

wow, i turn my back for two hours and the comments BLOW UP!
1.) Top Gun 2 is almost as sad as when the ghost of Robert Deniro was trying to get Scorsese to make Taxi Driver 2. yes, it’s true, and yes, it’s very sad.
2.) I concur with the “advanced screening” shenanigans going on. The St. Louis He-Man Woman Haters Club is all holed up in their secret treehouse, talking about advanced screenings ain’t nobody else heard of. I haven’t seen Tropic Thunder either, I just get invites to go see advanced screenings of ‘Fly Me To The Moon’ and I sigh heavily.
3.) I agree with Ram Man, a real M. Night Shayamalan “twist” would be him not putting himself in one of his movies.
Brett , I’m truly sorry if you had to put up with ‘Fly me to the Moon’. At least it was in 3D. Cruise’s performance has been reported on and Tropic Thunder has had numerous screening around the country and many more to come. (Get with your local rep about catching a screening) I say it’s a current project just like Bale’s current project was the Dark Knight for the last 5 months..and it wasn’t out yet. Brett Scott is afraid of heights its a bombshelter. hahahaha
