DiCaprio rumoured for ‘Captain America’

What the heck is going on! Leo DiCaprio as Captain America? You’ve got to be kidding me! Brad Pitt I could see him playing Thor after seeing his role in TroyĂ‚   but does DiCaprio have what it takes to be a SUPERHERO?

From Latino Review: Leonardo DiCaprio is Marvel’s top choice to play Captain America

Marvel, who previously announced plans to release First Avenger: Captain America on May 6, 2011, reportedly wants the Blood Diamond star to lead the film as US soldier-turned-superhero Steve Rogers.

Alternatively, if DiCaprio chooses to decline the role, the studio will turn to Brad Pitt. The Troy actor is also rumoured to be the first choice for another Marvel film, Thor.

DiCaprio is currently filming Martin Scorsese’s crime drama Shutter Island.

Movie Geeks, what do you have to say about this?

  1. Don’t get me wrong, DiCaprio can play an awesome good guy and serious role (a la “Departed” and “Blood Diamond”) but I don’t see him as a WWII super-serum injected hero for the U.S.; but I still can’t seem to think of anyone else, either. I think if Pitt gets into Troy/Fight Club shape again then he could be a forseeable choice for Cap, but I really DON’T want to see a Thor movie; much less a Brad Pitt Thor movie.

  2. Although I think DiCaprio could be a good choice if they ever do a Green Arrow movie or another Robin Hood. Thoughts?

  3. I dont think either is a good fit. Once Captain America gets the serum he transforms in a HUGE dude..not just chiseled, but also tall. neither of them are tall enough to pull that off. They should get..DOLPH LUNDGREN!

  4. Enough with Dolph..hes too old. I agree that Leo doesn’t have the body for the role once he is Capt. America.

  5. Dolph is THE MAN!

  6. I agree Dolph is THE MAN, But Brad Pitt actually does fit for either Captain or Thor if he can get in shape like he did for Fight Club. Hes not small and puny like Leo!

  7. Dolph is the “old” man! He’s 51! Too old for either role unless you want Burt reynold to play Hawkeye, he’s in his 80′s

  8. see my new post!

  9. Charles says:

hahahaha Dolph is old Scott, get over it now. You are as bad as me when it comes to Dark Knight! You are a Dolph Lundgren FANBOY

  10. If Aaron Eckhart wasn’t in “The Dark Knight” then I think he would’ve made an incredible “Captain America”

  11. Eckhart would have to REALLY chisel out. Did you see ‘Meet Bill’ … besides, I don’t think he’d even be interested.

  12. Aaron Eckhart? Ouch…you guys thought my vote for Dolph was bad.
