Academy Invites 105 to Become Members

Looks like the  members-only club that would be AMPAS has decided to open their doors to 105 new voting members. “These individuals are all incredibly talented and a credit to the world of filmmaking,†� said Academy President Sid Ganis.   “They exemplify the high standards of the Academy and I welcome each and every one of them to our ranks.†� Voting membership right now stands at just under 6,000.  SIGH! My invite must have gotten lost in the mail.

Some of the invitees include Sacha Baron Cohen, Josh Brolin, Marion Cotillard, Ruby Dee, Jet Li, Ray Winstone, Sheila Nevins (HBO), Gore Verbinski, Jason Reitman, Judd Apatow, Diablo Cody, Tamara Jenkins. An invitation-only reception will be held at the Fairbanks Center for Motion Picture Study in Beverly Hills  in September to welcome the newest AMPAS members into the fold.
