From ‘Robocop’ to ‘Starship Troopers’ …
From the mouths of MGM themselves … [With the appointment of Parent, MGM will enter its new phase of evolution by focusing on its major movie franchises highlighted by JAMES BOND and PINK PANTHER sequels, THE HOBBIT, THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR 2, THE OUTER LIMITS, ROBOCOP, DEATH WISH and FAME, among others.]
Apparently, Robocop will be getting the all-too-popular make-over treatment soon. Not really sure how this will turn out, but it surely wouldn’t be as fun as Paul Verhoeven’s original. You can count on lots of special effects, I’m sure.
While we’re on the topic of Verhoeven movies, apparently there is a third Starship Troopers movie in the works and will, of course, be direct-to-DVD. Tentatively, its being called Starship Troopers: Marauder and producers have apparently convinced Casper Van Dien to return. Times must be tough. Well, at this rate, the only Verhoeven movie left to expand on is Showgirls … could we be that lucky?
