By the POWER of GRAYSKULL !!

With a renewed interest in all things comic book, and these films making a huge splash at the box office… What could be brewing for us die-hard movie-goers, and lovers of the fantastic?

Masters of the Universe (2009)

The tagline reads “Only one can have the Power…” with the outline that on IMDB.com says, “He-Man, the most powerful man in the universe, goes against the evil Skeletor to save the planet Eternia and protect the secrets of Castle Grayskull.” What could we be in store for? Rumor has it this version of one of my favorite 80’s icons will be filmed in the same style, and cinematography as 300, which gives us something to seriously look forward to. Eternia, He-Man, and the rest of the cast of Characters that created the Masters of the Universe, in my opinion, could only truely be brought to the big screen as a live-action feature with the talent, abilities, and technology of our modern day filmmakers. Joel Silver has been rumored to be attached to produce this. As some of you may know other films that Silver is accredited with…Die Hard 1&2, Predator 1&2, Road House, Weird Science, Leathal Weapon 1-4, Matrix 1-3, and numerous other SMASH HITS. Though, he also brought us Dungeons & Dragons: The Movie, but I won’t hold that against him much. Justin Marks is coming forth to write. His most notable work to date…Well, not much, however he’s also writing “Street Fighter: Legend of Chun Lee”. We can only hope Marks is an avid watcher of the cartoon, and huge fan of the franchise. Even if the dialogue is limited, I’m sure the visuals will be nothing short of stunning. I’m looking forward to a fantastic visual masterpiece ! Setting myself up for a let down? Could be.

Exactly! I grew up on things like Voltron, Thundercats, Silver Hawks, Transformers, and ofcoarse He-Man. There is an entire generation that did aswell. There is definately a market there for “Masters”, and the others.

Masters of the Universe (1987) was a travesty. I feel the series deserves a rebirth of sorts. If this world is brought to the masses in the style of “300″, it will be something to see.
