Who can forget one of the greatest underdogs to ever grace the silver screen, Daniel LaRusso. He warmed our hearts in 1984 with the first Karate Kid, again in 1986 with the Karate Kid II, and 1989 with the Karate Kid III. That’s pretty much where his career stalled, with the exception of My Cousin Vinny, Ralph Macchio didn’t do anything else until Artie Lang’s Beer League.

The Karate Kid is what first made me want to get into martial arts. I started doing Tae Kwon Do when I was 6 and we all used to mimic the famous Crane Kick although very early our sinsae should us just how impractical this move really was in the world of martial arts. I later discovered that they moved was created for the movie, and thus losing all its magic.

Mr. Macchio has also recently shown up in cameo appearances in my favorite show Entourage, and honestly I barely recognized him.

Ralph although work is few and far between, I am certain you made enough money in the 80’s you will be fine. Thanks for sparking the fighter in all of us, you will be missed!
